Webinar #1 - "Personal Injury Case: What You Should Know"

Duration: 30 Minutes

CEU:0.5 CEU Hours

This course is about what a health care practitioner needs to know regarding a personal injury case and how it affects the practitioner as well as their patients.  During this course, the practitioner will learn about the basics of a case, including types of insurance, liens vs. health insurance, timeline, and damages available in a personal injury case.  The course will discuss the stages of a case from pre-litigation through trial and the practitioner’s involvement at each stage.  Finally, the course discusses pitfalls and how to avoid them as a practitioner when treating the personal injury client. 

Webinar #2 - "Medical Records in PI Cases"

Duration: 30 Minutes

CEU: 0.5 CEU Hours

This course is about documentation of patients’ injuries in the medical records and how documentation impacts the personal injury case.  During the course the practitioner will learn about how medical records are used as legal evidence by the parties to the case. The course will discuss best practices for thoroughly documenting the patients’ injuries and the impact of those injuries on their lives.

Presenters: 

 Amanda Hood

 Amanda Pfeil Hood focuses her practice on personal injury and wrongful death. Amanda primarily works with clients who have   suffered traumatic brain or orthopedic injuries. She also has significant experience in sports injury cases arising from an athlete’s   premature return to play following a concussion.

  Amanda served as a judicial clerk with a Colorado Court of Appeals, an experience that helped her develop a strong analytic skill   set. Amanda is licensed to practice before the Colorado Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. She represents clients across the country.  As a result of her successes on behalf of her clients, Amanda has been recognized for several years as a Rising Star by Colorado Super Lawyers, a recognition that is provided to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in each state.  She additionally has been recognized by Best Lawyers.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado (BIAC), the go-to resource for help and services for survivors of a brain injury and their families.

 Melissa Winthers

 Melissa Winthers is a trial attorney in Denver specializing in serious personal injury cases.  Melissa’s representation has resulted in   numerous seven figure resolutions and awards for her clients.
