The Body as an Ecosystem: How to Incorporate Health Promotion Strategies into Clinical Care in Any Setting and Why Everyone Should Be Doing It

Presenter: Sarah Cruser

This presentation looks at why and how all physical therapists should assess and intervene on basic health behaviors in the clinic and hospital. We will zoom in from the broader topics of global mortality from SDOH and non-communicable diseases to the impact of health behaviors such as diet, sleep, and stress management on common treating diagnoses seen in traditional PT clinics. Participants will leave with a framework to more comprehensively assess factors contributing to any patient’s presentation and new avenues to help maximize both outcomes and patient self-efficacy in the clinic.
