Motor apraxia in autism is a disorder of willed movement where movement is often hijacked by a disinhibited limbic system. When motor outputs can be contrary to the intent of the individual how do you follow the child's lead? How do you assess cognitive ability? How do you identify true preferences and interests over motor disinhibition and motor loops? Learn some tried and true strategies and principles for working with autists with motor apraxia in a manner that promotes understanding, respect, and honoring their intent.
